One in seven American children aged 2 to 8 suffers from a mental, behavioral or developmental problem, federal health officials report.
Researchers analyzed data supplied by parents in the 2011-2012 National Survey of Children's Health, looking for reported speech and language problems, learning disabilities, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorder, anxiety and more.
"Based on the number of kids affected, this is something we need to pay attention to," said lead researcher Jennifer Kaminski, team leader for child development studies at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The researchers found that young children with mental, behavioral or developmental disorders were less likely than others to have access to medical care that was family-centered, continuous, comprehensive, coordinated, compassionate and culturally effective.

Also note that the main reason for such a high degree of so-called psychological disorders in kids is because acceptable behavior has been redefined.
Can't have boys being boys anymore.
The parents get paid if the kids get diagnosed.
Medication for all.
That would be because their parents get government checks if they are diagnosed as “disabled.”

In my neck of the woods (and surely elsewhere), there are hustlers who give lessons to kids, for a fee, on how to "fail" mental tests.
Don't discount that as one reason for the high numbers here.
Schools get more money. Plenty of teachers demand the little Johnny and Ted need Ned’s to counter act ADHD.
I know a lot of people think that the shots we give our children for chicken poxs, etc are good, and it does drive down the diseases, but there are some reports out there that say this is also what is causing a lot of our children’s problems with disorders...it’s a very touchy subject, neither my children (4) nor my grandchildren (7) have seemed to have adverse problems, so I guess it’s up to how the people read the articles...
A big part of the problem is sugar and artificial ingredients in processed food as well as the T.V. shows they watch.
I would like to see the break down by race and ethnicity.
I was brought to my attention Asian kids never seem to have these problems.
This is right out of THX-1138
Screwed up kids are a reflection of our society going downhill. This country has had a majority of at least two if not three generations of morally bankrupt and poorly educated parents.
Also, I’ll bet that “lead researcher Jennifer Kaminski” gets a very nice salary and all kinds of benefits from the gubbermint. This is what they want to hear, so they can dig in further into childcare.
The only provable insane are the LIBs who would like you to believe others are insane.
I wonder what proportion of the “mental illnesses” are actually kids with behavior problems caused by failure to discipline?
Liberals have long decried spanking for punishment, instead pushing the ideas of “time-out”, etc. I am not sure that the Dr. Spock recommendations for child-rearing were all that good, but he was influential on generations of parents.
Is a higher rate of behavior problems, diagnosed as “mental illness” the result?
Note: there are some true mental illnesses. The incidence of these should not vary from generation to generation—when they do (as with autism), changes in incidence of the disorder reflect changes in diagnostic criteria.
Throw God out of the country- or make it hard for God’s name and morality to be taught, then complain about godless children with psychological problems and anger issues and perverted affections-
This is the Frankenstein the left has so eagerly and enthusiastically created- now let’s not hear any whining from them as their monster turns on them
That’s crazy !!!
Perhaps its how they are raised and most freepers raise them right
We SPANKED our kids, so no psychological or behavioral problems in our family.
You nailed it!
So do the schools...
