As minimum wages across the country rise and restaurants face increased labor costs, one fast food CEO is thinking about replacing human workers with robots. Carl's Jr. head honcho Andy Puzder wants to open a new restaurant concept that's "employee-free," reports Business Insider.
Puzder was inspired by a visit to Eatsa, the futuristic San Francisco-born restaurant where patrons order via tablet and retrieve their food from automated cubbies. He believes the idea of a restaurant free of social interaction could be especially appealing to millennials, noting that young people seem particularly fond of ordering from kiosks over humans.

With the liberals trying to raise the minimum wage so much higher, this is inevitable...
I can see an automated burger joint within ten years....but it’ll have to have at least two guys in the background to ensure things stay running and operational. Zero human workers on a shift? No...it’ll never happen.
My question is....once we prove it works and you can dismiss three-quarters of all the burger flippers in the world...what will they do next? There’s no occupation left for these people.
Foreseeable outcome: "burger flippers are no longer required, thanks for your service."
Well at least a robot can’t scratch it’s butt and then get a pickle out of the jar
We are going to have about 100 million low skill people who have no hope of employment.
I see no solution. I frequently see people shrug and say, “we will find new things to do; we always have.”
Will we?
I believe I saw this guy on Varney and he was saying that he was moving the corporate headquarters out of CA. Hadn't decided where; but, TX and TN were mentioned.
Hamburger flippers days are numbered.
So not even one person on hand for quality control?
Nashville won out.
i can see robots cooking, serving, ordering, etc., but i cannot see robots cleaning tables, mopping floors, etc..
“The head of Carl’s Jr knows the headaches of dealing with human workers especially in a state like CA where lots of Carl’s Jr. are located.”
The founder of Carl’s Jr used to pay his cooks very well, which oddly enough was returned in loyalty and pride in their job. When Carl lost control of his company and this new crew took over they fired cooks and drivers who had been with Carl for decades. If you treat people like they are disposable you get what you pay for.
True, but the two support guys will be well paid...
I agree....some disaffected loser is going to have to be there to spit in the burgers.
Wow! Does this mean a drive through where the order taker can actually speak properly and be understood?

It has been done in Europe for years.
Did a 15 month term in Cali.... Going anywhere low end service industry was nearly impossible to deal with.... between language issues, and 3rd world attitudes.
Would take 5 minutes or more usually to just place an order at a fast food joint more often than not.... let alone actually get your order, let alone it being right.
They could contract those duties out to be performed after business hours. You don't have to pay contractors minimum wage, FICA, workers comp, etc. etc.
