I haven’t heard any mention of Opera in 5-8 years.

I don’t think I’ve had it installed on more than one machine.

Who knew?

Once upon a time, Opera was a contender. Even had a built-in torrent client.

But, several years ago, they opted out of the browser chase, announcing they would henceforth be using a version of WebKit, the rendering engine behind Safari and Chrome. After that, their business story was all hand-waving! It's amusing that the Chinese are getting taken in ...

So, why would anybody continue to use their stuff or depend upon them?

Bummer. But I will continue to use it as it is the best browser that I have found for my droid phone and works great on my macs.
