NASA's Spirit Mars Rover Found Mysterious Growths On Mars That Could Be The Biggest Discovery In Science
Jennifer Deal

Four billion years ago, Mars looked a lot like Earth does today. So it's not surprising that a team of scientists believe that they may have discovered the first signs of ancient alien life on the planet.

Speaking of Mars, send Mullah Obama and Hillary in orbit around Mars. And not come back.
I love scientific speculation. Exactly how do they know Mars looked like Earth 4 billion years ago? Its as speculative as the noises the dinosaurs made in Jurassic Park.
We should have been there by now.
Your "facts" about global warming and climate change have destroyed your credibility.
You had your chance and you blew it. Your time has come and is gone.
Leave the exploration of space to nations and companies who are worthy of it.
Use of the word “growth” in the headline implies that the existence of life has already been acknowledged.
“winds in excess of 10,000 miles per hour”
In your face, Matt Damon!
Stalactites and stalagmites are examples of growths on earth with no life involved.
we would have condos on Neptune by now if we still looked like we did in the 50’s. but at least we have Mexican food and hip hop
I think of those as being geological formations that change over time.
this is more hype than real science
Houston, this is Mission Control, CRUZ-1 is now in orbit ... We are go for lander separation ...
Roger that, We are Go for lander separation ... Standby for undocking ... All guidance is green, internal systems functioning normal, telemetry looks good ...
Docking latches unlocked ... Counting 10 seconds to thruster ignition, on my mark ... 10-9-8-7-6 ... Mark! Go with 3 second burst on forward maneuvering thrusters ...
Houston, we have good separation - acceleration at three meters per second - watch your roll ... Distance is 20 meters, acceleration 5 mps ...
CRUZBOT-1 is on its way to the surface!
Mission Control, how do you read?
5x5 Houston ... CRUZBOT-1 is holding normal decent profile, altitude now 35,200 meters, acceleration 40 mps ...
Heat shield looks good. OMS Fuel consumption good. All telemetry readings normal ...
34,800 meters, acceleration 80 mps ...
Slight buffeting ... pitch and roll look good. hull Vibration and temps within limits, internal readings normal ... Altitude 34,000 meters
Descent at 100 mps and steady, altitude 32,000 meters, telemetry good ...
Descent at 100 mps and steady, altitude 30,000 meters, telemetry good ...
Descent at 100 mps and steady, altitude 28,000 meters, telemetry good ... Roll, pitch and yaw good ...
Descent at 100 mps and steady, altitude 20,000 meters, telemetry good ... Beginning roll program ... Retro fire on my mark in 10 -9-8-7-6 ... Mark ...
Acceleration 80 mps - altitude 15,000 meters
Acceleration 60 mps - altitude 12,000 meters
Drogue chute deployed, all axis normal ...
Acceleration 50 mps - altitude 10,000 meters
Main chutes deployed - all axis normal, fuel levels normal
Acceleration 20 mps - altitude 8,000 meters, Standby landing thrusters ...
Acceleration 10 mps - altitude 6,000 meters ...
All systems normal, begin landing sequence ...
Acceleration 10 mps - altitude 4000 meters ...
Acceleration 8 mps - altitude 2000 meters ... 1900 meters
Descent holding at 8 mps - altitude 1800 meters, 1700, 1600,
Landing gear locked, ground relays set, we have all green - 1200 meters, 1100, 1000 meters ...
landing thrusters activated, standby to release main chutes - 800 meters, 700, 600 - ground proximity sensors guidance on, telemetry is good - Descent holding at 5 mps, 500 meters ... 400 meters, 35, 300, 250 - ground return good, landing cameras on ... tone good 150 meters, 100, 75, 50 ... fuel levels normal ... 20 meters, standby engine shutdown ... 15 meters, 10, 5 - ground contact light - engines stop ... Houston, CRUZBOT-1 has landed.
Standby camera feed, panning, good image - Houston we’re feeding you the signal - Do you copy?
Mission Control, this is Houston ... We’re receiving images now ... Looks fantastic ... zoom 20 ... Rodger that, zoom 20 ...
What the!?
It can’t be!
Mission Control are you guys getting this?
Houston, we see it!
What the hell is that?1
Some sort of structure - an obelisk!
Zoom in closer - Give me 50 ... Got it, mag 50 ... It’s all black! Jesus! the thing is YUGE!
Houston, we’re getting a read on its dimensions now - 466.666 meters high - 21.6 meters wide ... Theres something else ... wait ... What’s that? ... Some kind of light is being emitted from the object! It’s creating letters! Houston! This is incredible! What’s it read? ‘T’ ... ‘R’ ... ‘U’ ... ‘M’ ... ‘P’ TRUMP? TRUMP! OMFG!!! IT CAN’T BE!
...and there are noxious fumes around Uranus.
Agreed!
Your 14, good work, nice flight, nice landing...lol.
So do I. This brings up the question of if there was life on Mars, and Mars was much like the US is now, could life on Earth be something that originated on Mars? Since we can imagine and perhaps someday mankind can achieve terraforming another planet, there is no logical reason that we couldn't be the result of terra-forming.
I'm not saying it's true. It's speculative, and becomes more possible with findings like lots of planets in the universe and previous life on Mars.
I also love the classic Science Fiction writers. It's really interesting, not just their predictions, but their understanding of the nature of man.
It is incredibly speculative and not very convincing. Finding a bunch of rocks similar to those formed by weather conditions on earth is not evidence that life once existed on Mars.
I think they need more biologists at NASA, and fewer people who are so eager to find signs of past life that they interpret almost anything as such a sign.
