Google “2016 ford ranger”.
I did, before posting my question. There are all sorts of articles saying all sorts of things. There are even pictures of the 2016 Ranger, with specs, for the overseas market.
As a side note, I'm disappointed to see that the 2016 Ranger is larger than the older model. The small size was one thing the Ranger had going for it!
Anyway, I could find nothing official in my Google search. So I was hoping we had a Ford insider here on FR. I don't want to buy a non-Ranger now, then see it come out in the US three months later.
Had two over the years. The last one a 4WD would climb a telephone pole and with the extended cab have plenty of room for luggage or a munchkin. I am waiting because if they bring it out I am buying!!!.
Small pickups aren’t likely coming back soon. Blame CAFE standards (there’s almost no mpg improvement) and lower profit margins on trucks that are smaller than today’s standard. There’s also a 25% tariff on foreign-built trucks (except NAFTA) and a gentleman’s agreement between the feds and the four big pickup makers to keep small pickups out of the US market.
