We had light drizzle a couple of times on the golf course this morning, near Houston. All OK so far, but it is supposed to get much cooler for the next 8 or 10 days.

Here in Garland the sirens have gone off 3 times. A large tornado hit Rowlett just east of here and caused a lot of damage. The Rowlett emergency services people are calling for “all the help we can get”.

Central Texas in and around Austin and Georgetown have had heavy rains off and on and some light hail. There have been wind bursts but everything is fine so far. Late tonight there are supposed to be more heavy rains and hail with the possibility of tornado action. Then the cold comes in. Happy New Year and God Bless.

Ping out to Texas FReepers. Once your power comes back on please let us know all is OK. Texas gets all kinds of weather the next couple of days, from a major blizzard to tornadoes and heavy rain.

I’m in Rowlett. Had a tornado touch down just two miles east of me. Tore the roof off my daughter’s friend’s house.

We’re just fine, but our power is out. I saw the flash when the transformer blew.

Far North Dallas. Sirens, power went out briefly, heavy rain. Tornadoes east of here. Kid from work just called. His Church is heavily damaged, near Lake Ray Hubbard

Tornado now on the ground near Leonard, maybe 35 miles from here.

Temp in Denton 51, McKinney 70. They're maybe 20 miles apart. Fits hitting the shan.

OMG, I did not realize that severe storms and tornadoes are whipping across Texas. I hope that none of our FReeper buddies sustain injuries or loss from these storms. I extend that to ALL of the folks in Texas. The weather videos and reports look very bad!

Near Austin it was 73 when we woke up at 5:30 AM, with 90% humidity and fog. The high today was 79. Tomorrow at 4:00 AM the cold front will hit with high winds with rain and possible tornados. The South Plains around Lubbock may have up to 16” of snow. Oh well, it was in the 80s last week, so it was time for some winter weather. You can’t be a weather wuss and live in Texas.
