The end of the year does not seem to bode well for Apple, as the tech giant's shares continued to drop 0.3 percent in early Tuesday trading. The company's stocks have now dipped below $110 for the first time since October, pushing the company to new financial lows, according to USA Today.

The drop in Apple's shares continued from Monday, when the company fell by as much as 3 percent, to $109.79 in early Monday trading. Though the stock recovered for a time, it nevertheless closed down 0.6 percent, to $112.48 by the day's end. With the company's high of $134.54 last April in mind, Apple has so far destroyed about $123 billion of its market value this year.

Cut with the "You obviously don't understand that" condescending dribble.

Of course I know that Apple owns a lot of stock.

If the stock had been over-valued earlier, it doesn't mean a correction or sudden drop is "the value of the company being destroyed".

Apple remains the big dog in profiting off of tablets, even as the sales and profits themselves decline. Profit margins on the phones remains steady, as does market share. The watch is not, and was never intended to be a big piece of the value, at least not in the short term, and as a prestige product like Corvettes are for GM.

Just because Apple the company will not have the growth it had after an amazing run doesn't mean the company is going out of business, or that value was "destroyed". The writer is NOT describing what happened accurately.

Apple’s creativity has stalled.

Don’t worry, however. They have increased their energies in new technology such as LGBT rights and bigger iPhones.

No, you obviously don’t understand how this works.

In 2014, they dropped.
In 2015, they stayed the same, even after a stock buyback

That’s 2 years of negative investments. Shall we go for three years of negative investments to show you just how much you don’t understand how this works?

Virtually all of Apple’s growth is due to China.

All the ChiComs need to do is cut them off, and it’s freefall time.

That is not “destroying value”. It might be “losing perceived value” (real for those who traded at the end). Destroying value is when a company overpays for a subsidiary, or sells off a product line taht adds value.

If I don’t drive my car for a year but otherwise maintain it. It goes down in value, but I am not DESTROYING value. Words mean things. LOSING and DESTROYING are two different words. Sheesh!

Good point. And that’s exactly why Microsoft is such a threat here.

Since they are building their very own version of Windows 10 for China, and since Windows 10 has a mobile version that runs on cell phones which will also be made just for China, one mandate and Apple’s out. Done like the Christmas goose.

Microsoft’s in. Huawei hops on board and so does everyone else not locked into Android technology.

No, that’s not what the article says. They said it “destroyed market value”.

Even so, Apple has lost money in its investments to the tune of around $40 billion since last year. I’m sure they were using a good portion of that to line the pockets and pay for operations. To control the avalanche they went into all-out panic mode and started buying stocks back.

Somebody bought stocks between $110 and $134. Assuming Apple only owns about 30% of the stock, that's still a whopping $37B dollars,

Apple owns Apple stock? What does that mean?

Mild moves lately. Apple still sells plenty to be a highly profitable company.

“Stock prices go up. Stock prices go down. Apple has not detroyed its wealth. Investors’ valuation of the value of Apple stock has changed. Good grief.”

There you go with that “fact and logic” stuff again.

The 52 week low on AAPL was 92 just about six or seven months ago. . . So this is pure ignorant FUD.

Well, the Apple shares I got through some stock options years ago cost me $.14 per share (before 2 splits), so I figure I'm ahead for a while yet.

A while? Good grief man, those splits were huge. Wasn't one at 7 for 1? I thought I was doing good buying in the teens before the splits. Congrats!

Their products are in decline as the competition catches up. That will eventually impact earnings and stock price.

Really? Apple is taking home 94% of the profits in the cellular phone market, 47% of the profits in the personal computer market, 65% of the profits in the tablet market, and 80% of the profits in the music player markets. I grant you that Apple does not have the lions share of market share in any of those, but they're not seeking that. They are growing market share in the PC market while all others are shrinking. Apple's share is growing in the iPhone market in the US, China, UK, South Korea, India, and Europe. . . the most important markets. So what are you talking about? The fact that Android junk products in the low end where Apple doesn't compete are selling tons of products below production cost, pumping profits down the drain? Is that it?

Apple CEO Timmy Coock doesn't measure down to Hussein's level but he still SUCKS.
