The federal Copyright Royalty Board has ruled that ad-supported internet radio companies such as Pandora must pay higher royalty rates to artists and record labels. This is good for the artists and the record labels but will hit the services hard in the pocket book. On the other hand, it will be good for subscriber services such as Apple Music. -- PING!

I use Pandora on Android. I used it for a year or so, got a subscription to it for a year, let the sub lapse a year or so ago... If their costs go up they'll probably have to put in commercials more often and/or charge more for the commercial free subs. Neither one appeals to me. More commercials and I'll probably stop using the service. It wasn't worth it to me to keep the sub when it cost less. If it costs more - no way. I'll investigate other options, including just streaming my own music collection from my server - since most of the time I use Pandora is around the house.
