During a White House press conference yesterday, spokesman Josh Earnest struggled to answer questions about how more gun control legislation would have prevented any of the mass shootings in recent years.
VIDEO
Wall Street Journal reporter Byron Tau referenced presidential candidate Marco Rubio's claim that gun legislation would not have preventing recent mass-shootings.
âIf not a single recent mass shooting would have been stopped by the kind of gun control measures you champion, are those the right approach to this problem?â Tau asked.
Responded Earnest, âWell, Byron, I think weâve been pretty direct and upfront about the fact that there is no piece of legislation that Congress can pass that would prevent every single act of gun violence. I think the case that we have made is one that rests primarily on our concern about national security and our careful consideration of common sense.â
The question wasn't about stopping every single act of gun violence, how about just one?
Instead, Earnest turned to the No Fly list.
âThe president believes itâs common sense and it is in our national security interests to prevent those who are deemed by the government too dangerous to board an airplane that we should pass a law that prevents those people from purchasing a gun, until such time as they can resolve the concerns that the government has about their potential links to terrorism,â Earnest said.

Just what a grieving frightened nation needed....another presidential PR strategy.
In the WH Situation Room after San Bernardino figuring out how to lie to Americans.
Notice top dog advisor the "brilliant" Susan Rice taking notes.
Maybe she's planning to make a video?
bunch of like minded a holes sitting around thinking up ways to F you and I out of our civil rights and our property and costing the tax payers a million dollars an hour to do it.
Some people — Bill Clinton for example — are good at the spontaneous manufacture of untruths. They’re journeyman liars. Others, like Barack, are just as good at the delivery, but take a little longer to assemble the product.
Give BO some time and he and his media buddies will come up with a low-information-palatable talking point.
BUMP! BUMP! Enemies domestic. In-your-face, agenda-driven, agency-abetted, representative-enabled, media-complicit.
Your name just went on the terrorism watch list (if it wasn’t there already). No more guns for you.
I’ve probably been on all sorts of ‘lists’ for years now.
They can all go screw themselves.
Boils down to: A) We’re going to admit people to the US who want to kill our citizens; B) We’re then going to remove the ability of those citizens to protect themselves; and, C) We’re not going to fulfill our primary responsibility of protecting our citizens.
If someone is potentially dangerous and should be allowed on an airplane which is a gun free zone, shouldn’t that person be banned from all gun free zones?
Why just airplanes?
oops...should not be allowed on an airplane
Can we agree that using the words “common sense” when it comes to gun control is a weak attempt to persuade the low information voters? That being the case, this Whitehouse is far from transparent, they are 100% attempting to trick people. Is that what we want from a WH or does that make them unfit?
the problem under discussion is not that 14 people were murdered but how does that effect our administration
the question is resolved down to how do we make ourselves look good
The lives don’t matter. the well being of those sitting around the table is all that counts
Obama: I've called you all here because I've just received word there was a mass shooting in San Bernadino, Ca.
Responses from those gathered: Guns, White people with guns, Republicans...
Obama: So....I've laid out before you the various menus from sandwich shops around town, take a minute to look them over and figure out what you want and somebody make sure you order French fries and onion rings but if Michelle comes in, they're not mine....
I figured you wanted to hire a “performance artist” and glitter-bomb them.
Exactly!!
Perfectly said.
I think they think their job is to remind us all of their power and moral superiority.
