Sunday, Nov. 29, 6 p.m. ET - Investors Group Field, Winnipeg, Manitoba; ESPN2 (United States), TSN (Canada, English), RDS (Canada, French) - Internet RDS.ca
Temperature: 22 Deg F (Clear)
Halftime Act : Fall Out Boys
It’s fun to watch about once a year. The quality of play is OK for the most part. But I like it because of the bigger field, the extra guy, the elimination of all the illegal motion penalties, the one point “rouge”, and, especially, the no blocking on punts (I think they still do that).
Go Rough Riders! THAT is what they should be called! (What the heck kind of a name is ‘RedBlacks’? Isn’t the name ‘microagression’ to ‘First Nations’ and those of African heritage? </sarc>)
I’m not really a gambling man, but if the numbers you quote are for today’s game, the RedBlacks are the underdog. Since the field is so much larger than a US field, and there are only 3 downs, the O/U would be higher than a US game. AFA the -110? Not sure.
And the Canadian Football League has a surprisingly colorful history unknown to many Americans. There has been rivalries historically that were just intense as we see in the NFL today.
Yeah. When they had a naming contest I submitted Ruffians, because it was close enough to Rough Riders, the same syllables and yet far enough from RR that Saskatchewan could be encouraged to pound sand.
But nOOOOOOOOO!
So, alas, it’s GO REDBLACKS today for this Ottawa-born Stampeders fan in Calgary.
Cheers
Jim
Should be a good game. I’d like to see Ottawa win it in their second year, but Edmonton has the #1 defence. My dog ain’t in it (Alouettes).
