Not long ago, no one had heard of golden-tongued YouTuber James Wright âChanel,â who burst onto the scene last week with a musical review of Patti LaBelleâs sweet potato pie. To say he went viral is an understatement â to date, the video has been seen more than 1 million times. And ever since that video spread like wildfire, Walmart â which developed the pie with LaBelle and sells it exclusively â has been struggling to keep up with demand. Everyone wants a slice of Ms. LaBelleâs silky, autumnal pie.

"Patti LaBelle loves the YouTube guy who sang the praises of her sweet potato pies, but she says the frenzy over the delicious dessert is all her doing.
The famous diva whose pies have flown off the shelves at just about every Walmart in the US of A was not sharing credit as she showed up to the London hotel in a very rainy NYC. Patti loves James Wright, but she says the success is all hers.
BTW ... it's insane what's happening with the pies ... some are going for $100 on Craigslist. We called 30 Walmart stores and they said December is the earliest they'll be restocked. "
A Brave new world indeed.
She is a well-known cook. I’ll have to see if there are any at my local Walmart.
I always thought of sweet tater pie as a poor man’s pumpkin pie.
Ad agencies all over the world are trying to figure out how to create viral videos.
This is a perfect example of why they are on the elusive hunt.
Of course, you could just pay a Kardashian to tweet about your product. That seems to have a similar effect.
If there is one thing is for certian...James Wright’s EBT card never passed up a pie in his life.
You can check on Walmart’s site before going to the store.
Ok.
I used to like her music. She did an album back in the 80s called Winner in You that was pretty good if I recall.
But after her bodyguard and chauffeur beat up that West Point cadet for standing next to her luggage and then tried to use the “he said a racial slur” crap as justification...no thanks.
I think it was her that went on Empire and started spouting off about BlackLivesMatter.
That whole movement turns me off..and not because I am racist.I am sick of the perpetual victimhood.
“But after her bodyguard and chauffeur beat up that West Point cadet...”
Exactly...she gets squat from me, also.
This.
She was a decent singer who stumbled into fame when she performed Lady Marmalade. She is a bitter and spiteful human being, however.
Pumpkin in pie (IMHO) has an odd texture.
You cannot beat a Yam Pecan Pie.
River Road Recipes, page 207/208.. It’s over the top good.
Patty Da Bell had her body guards beat up a West Point Cadet for no reason at all... Oh, no, there was reason. He stood too close to her baggage at an airport. As I recall, the Cadet was booted from school.. Enjoy the pies!
Same here.
Ditto!
I would have thought she’d have her own line of marmalade first.
“I always thought of sweet tater pie as a poor manâs pumpkin pie.”
Other than the pumpkin or sweet potato they use the same exact ingredients. Sweet potato pie is actually more labor intensive to make , you have to whipped the potatoes and sit there and pull the strings out of it to get a decent pie .
Sweet potato pie is more of a southern thing because it is easier to grow them in the hot humid climate .

As a totally disinterested party in this case...The video looks like the dude threw the first punch. I’m guessing Had he not been drunk it probably would have endend differently.
Just say’n
Farenheit 451.
People need hobbies and a feeling of shared experience.
