I was stunned by a report that certain nightclubs and other entertainment facilities celebrated a festival called Halloween, which is not ours and is hardly understandable for us

Older conservative Russians are no fans of Halloween, a holiday growing increasingly popular among younger Russians who are exposed to more Western influences via popular culture and the internet.

A friend just told a story of arriving in America almost 30 years ago from Finland and landing on Halloween. She said she had thought Halloween was a movie, but then was confronted by hordes of people in silly costumes. Jet lagged, exhausted, her ride not there, she was not amused. She came around though. Lovely person.
