Anyone who leaves the USA and travels to Iran on non official business should lose US citizenship.
Although it was about ten years ago, I once spoke to an Iranian Jew - a woman - when on jury duty at LA Superior Court - who interpreted Farsi. She told me she went back and forth frequently as she had family there who were all basically well treated.
I don’t know what might have changed since then in this regard as I indicated, it was some time ago.
