How is this a federal crime? In this city, the reverse situation doesn’t even warrant press or prosecution.

No way would I ever vote guilty in *any* court for *any* so-called “hate crime” charge.In *this* case,however,assuming the evidence showed that the guy did,in fact,serious assault the old guy for no good reason (being black *isn't* a good reason) I would easily vote guilty of assault (and,very probably,other crimes as well) and vote for a sentence of many years.

Notice that the case was tried in a county court and not a federal court.
