Could it have anything to do with outrageous prices?
Maybe related to the obesity trend as well. ‘Athleisure’ clothes are more comfortable if you’re fat and easier to fit with multiple fat rolls. Denim isn’t comfortable if you’ve got multiple fat rolls. Ask me how I know this stuff...
I buy jeans for about $20 at Kmart.
I gave up on LEVI brand a long time ago, when I was younger they could take abuse and lasted, today they are overpriced crap that falls apart as fast as the wal mart store brand... I switched to Wrangler long ago, they are far better than Levi’s but I am noticing with each passing purchase of them they seem to lass less and less as well.
I can still buy Wrangler 13MWZ for less than $30 anywhere. Not to mention they last 10 times longer. I have pairs that I have had for 10+ years. I got a pair of Cinch from the Mrs one Christmas and not only do they wear like crap they wear out after a few runs in the washer.
People that pay $60+ for jeans have other issues, like sanity.
The whole thing of men wearing jeans with bling or patterns on the pocket is another issue that I disdain, sissy jeans.

I buy the $10 or less(sale) ones at Walmart
I like jeans.
Besides, sweat pants by any other name look just as bad, unless you are out jogging (I don't wear them).
Denim remains both durable and practical for me.
I quit buying Levi’s when they tried to queer the boy scouts.
We are actively telling our scouts not to bother with anything made of cotton. It’s useless on the trail, unless its being used as a bandage.
And ridiculous styling
Levis are a good indication of the inflation rate.
original pair purchased in 1888 cost $1.80 cents.
In 1962 they cost $2.60. not quite double the price in 74 years.
Today they are $49.00 or more depending on the store. Quite a change in just 53 years.
If we still had the inflation rate between 1888 and 1962 they should not cost more than $5.00 a pair today.

My wife gets mine from LL Bean...prices are right ($39.95) and they look great! Never thought I could find a better pair of jeans than Levi 550’s, but the LL Beans are much better quality and fit!
I remember not very long ago when I could get a decent pair of Levis for $15.
What do you consider to be “outrageous”? I just purchased 2 pair Levi 501s at JCPenney for #$39.99 each. That was more than reasonable in my opinion considering a pair of Levi jeans typically last me anywhere between 1 to 2 years.
Could it have anything to do with the fat asses?
Stick to casual pants and shorts in the summer.
A friend loves her Levis.......used to put on a new pair then sit in the bath for 2 hours to mold them to her body.
To each his own...
jeans/Levi’s wear for years. Hence six pair except for a few dressier ones will last a person for years. Very serviceable and really go most anywhere outside of formal dress required.
Put on a good looking jacket and nice shoes and feel good anywhere. I love Levi’s! they come in regular blue jeans and in black jeans in recent years. Same durable fabric!!!
Levi’s quality went down. Cheap jeans
For too
Much money.
