While I am very proud of my boys for everything they do and will encourage them till the day I die, these trophies will be given back until they EARN a real trophy, the 37-year-old member of the Pittsburg Steelers wrote in an Instagram post. Im sorry Im not sorry for believing that everything in life should be earned.
...
Im not about to raise two boys to be men by making them believe that they are entitled to something just because they tried their best, the five-time Pro Bowler continued, adding, (because) sometimes your best is not enough, and that should drive you to do better

Racism! Uh...bullying! SO not FAIR! Help....please intervene oh government defenders of fairness!
Good Decision. This shows a father who looks closely, and is involved with his kids routines. A less involved parent would have just said, “Oh, you got a trophy! Good for you. Put it on the mantle, next to your other participation trophies.”
I’m only 31 but I never received a participation trophy for playing sports growing up.
Each post I make on FR is another step towards the FR participation trophy, right?
The guy’s must be a Republican. I wonder if he knows it.
My brother was a soccer coach. He had to quit because everyone thought they should have a trophy...just for showing up.
He would applaud this Dad.
You didn’t get yours yet?
My son once received a participation trophy.
He broke his elbow on the first play of the very first T ball game he was ever in.
We went to some of the games through the season and watched and then went to the very last one where they gave it to him
He keeps it as a joke.
He also has a tire off my truck that he shot with his one and only accidental discharge from a .22 rifle, I forced him to keep it in his room for years.
He does not think that one is so funny.
Our kids grow up, then they whine when their bosses do not give them rewards for just showing up to work. Just my. 02
Meritocracy rules!
Or a line by line audit from Koskinen’s IR-SS.
This Spring I was at the Maryland State high school track meet. Every kid there had to either meet a qualifier time, distance, height, etc, or place in the top three in their region. The top three finishers in each event at States got a medal.
One kid was visiting his parents behind us, and he had on a medal (hey, top three in the state? that is pretty good!). His five year old sister saw the medal and said, “why did they give you a medal? that just means, good job, you tried hard.”
Kids aren’t stupid, they know it is BS.
Really? Who has done this that you know of?
Mr. Harrison meet Dr. Carson.
I think you men have a lot in common.
WOW, good for him.
Oh. He’s with the “Pittsburgh Steelers”?
Now I don’t like him anymore.
“He broke his elbow on the first play of the very first T ball game he was ever in.”
Now that is a tough break!
“...they know it is BS.”
Yes, I love these stupid liberals, they might be fooling themselves, but they ain’t fooling anyone else.
