Been their, Done that and even got the “T” shirt. It was great growing up in the 50s freedom to enjoy being just a kid. It is a shame the kids today are missing out on all the fun!!!
Me n' Bobby would hunch down and start with a circle drawn in the dirt ..... and over the hours, the circle became elongated or otherwise mis-shapen ....... little twigs stuck in the ground was a stackade and other twigs were "guys" ...... mounds of dirt, a larger stick (properly sized for perspective) was a transport truck .... or rocket launcher
Always the proper and appropriate accompanying sounds like .. when you 'bubble' your lips and make the 'broom broom' sound ....
An entire battle would ensue, not really caring who was the enemy but that it was two 'guys' battling and ultimately ending with a large rock (or BOTH of us dropping them) on the scene in an explosive finale of aerial bombing .... and we'd hop on our bikes to go get Ralph or Eddy.
