Pat Venditte, the Oakland Athletics' switch-pitching sensation, has the ability to live on land and in water, according to the East Oregonian.
The little paper published out of Pendleton, Oregon, ran a headline on a story about Venditte touting him as "amphibious" rather than ambidextrous.

You were fishing for a place to hook that.
Did you think we were going to fall for it hook, line and sinker?
It’s a whale of a story; on any scale.

One of the jobs that went away early at newspapers was the copy editor with the thought that the spell-checker could handle it. It’s gotten so bad that the local editorial cartoonist had to pull last Friday’s cartoon on Caitlyn “Balls” Jenner when I wrote an online response pointing out his error on the oft-quoted lie about women being paid 78% of men’s salary. He wrote it as “78% less than a man” rather than “78% of a man.” A competent editor would not have allowed that to be published but the magic of electrons allowed it to be pulled after I called him on it. Felt pretty good, too.
