Oh, could this be the start of an incredible States’ Rights legal battle.

Not just for this issue but many others.

For example, what are the Nations’ stands on automatic weapons, silencers, etc.

I’m sure there is an airport on an Indian Reservation somewhere. How about the importation of M-1 carbines, from South Korea directly to Indian lands.

The cannot be re-imported to the US, but we could make an argument that such importation to Indian lands would NOT be re-importation, since they didn’t go to Korea from Indian lands.

They may be doing this for survival reasons!!

I became close with a Navajo railroad construction gang that a contractor had sent to complete some rail sidings I was working on for a client out in the Permian basin.

The night that we finished construction on one big project we had a party back at the hotel. I will always remember when I was talking to one of the heavy equipment operators about my single status and not having kids, he looked at me as if he were perplexed and said, "But who is going to take care of you when you get old? Who is going to bury you when you die?".

They have an interesting take on life. I loved hearing them speak to each other in their native tongue... it is such a very pretty language. They tried to teach me some of it, actually, but I am awful with retaining languages.

Oh, and they advised me to find a Hopi girl to marry... as the Hopi tribe has the most land and the most money. Hahahah!

Indeed they are. Many Indian "nations" fear disappearing. They absolutely do not want any even partial-blood kids being adopted outside their tribes.

In other words, they are not extinctionists.

Apparently, Father Sky and Mother Earth told them it was not a good thing.

Do they also prohibit Skittle-crapping unicorns with wings?

Oh, those don’t exist?

Neither does gay marriage. Oxymoron. Like “Madonna’s Music”.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Same-sex_marriage_under_United_States_tribal_jurisdictions

A list of the 24 tribes that do recognize SSM, including, The Blackfoot and the united tribes of the Cheyenne and Arapaho, is on Wiki.

An additional 76 tribes are listed as “might recognize,” meaning, these tribes may simply follow the policy of the State their Nation resides in or their Tribal Councils have yet to resolve the matter explicitly, one way or the other.

As Sovereign Nations, each tribe decides for Its People. If they wish to prohibit the color blue from being worn on their Lands, they can enforce that decree by Law. Should US Marriage Laws be made non-discriminatory towards same-sex couples, the tribes, still, may uphold their own set of Marriage Laws, much like a Foreign country might do. It could be, some Councils may move towards automatic conveyance of same-sex marriages performed on the US Territory side but not offer the licensing of those marriages on Tribal Grounds. Again, it will be interesting to watch how all this unfolds.

Nah, they’ll just support the Nations and their Casinos that offer nice “Two-Spirit” Honeymoon packages.
