Well Catherine Duggards are “celebrities” and once that happens you’re going to have fans that really don’t care what the facts are....so they do and will paint them with their own brush.

Maybe for the same reason they have to be married before kissing. This family doesn't believe in kissing before marriage. Before marriage, they're even careful about holding hands and hugging, FCOL.
