I am watching Beau Biden's funeral service on Fox News and it looked like that 0bama went up front to receive Communion. Did anyone else see this? I hope I am wrong
I haven’t seen it, but it wouldn’t surprise me. He’s king of the universe and is muslim, jewish, christian, etc. whenever he wants to be, and the peasants will yield. Just sayin’. PissBUH.
Would not be surprising. During this past week, he was a Jew. So it makes sense he’ll convert to Catholicism for the coming week, then it will be evangelical Protestantism down the road, then possibly Buddhism (or was it to be Shinto). Maybe he’s going through the same issues with religion that the Woody Allen character in “Hannah and her Sisters” did.
I would hope that a priest would have the guts to refuse to serve him communion.
It universally known that our president is not Catholic.
But I bet he takes off his shoes every time he enters a mosque out of respect for that tradition.
I can’t imagine the hell that the Vice President is going through. I really don’t care about his politics right now. Having to bury a son is horrid. Burying two children and a wife in one lifetime is total torture. I doubt anything could get to Joe now. I’d feel the same way with the President too. I don’t think some of you understand just how awful it is to lose a child and just because you hate someone doesn’t give you free range to rag on them. I do wonder who the Christians are on this site because on Joe Biden threads with the death of his son there are a ton of jerks.
I heard he has white boy feet and is ashamed of them
Condolences to the Biden family may Beau RIP. But , isn’t the news media going a little overboard? You would think a head of state passed.
As a muslim he declares that there is no god but allah, and muhammad is his prophet. Therefore he cannot also be a Christian. You cannot serve 2 masters.
As to his then brazenly taking communion; I would only present 1st Corinthians 11:27 thru 31, whereby I think he put himself out on very thin ice by doing it.
A question for Catholics: why is a pall draped over a casket during a funeral mass?
Remember when Billy Jeff took Holy communion somewhere in Africa?
Yes, I feel very bad for him too. I really had no idea his son was ill. And Beau has a couple of little kids too. Very tragic for the family.
Are Catholics the only ones allowed to take communion in a Catholic ceremony?
The only Catholic church services I've been to have been Midnight Mass at Christmas (which I think are beautiful services), and sometimes every Christian was invited to participate in Communion (I did), and sometimes they didn't specify who may participate (I didn't), and once they didn't do Communion.
When I was on active duty and we had a Catholic chaplain on deployment, everyone in attendance at service participated. The chaplain didn't ask, and didn't refuse anyone. Of course, there wasn't a "church" in the traditional sense of a building, more of a make-do circumstance.
Father gave him a blessing and made the sign of the Cross on his forehead. His daughter also went up for the blessing.Father said you could come up for Communion or a blessing. If a blessing to fold you hands on your chest.
I really had no idea his son was ill.
They were quiet about it but some here were yukking it up saying that he had a drug problem and other nasty remarks. (this was back when he was hospitalized) Of course nobody knew that it was cancer but that doesn’t matter when it is someone on the other side. This is one area of politics I hate. No giving the benefit to person. It has to be a smear every time. Well I guess now that Beau’s prognosis is known hopefully next time they won’t be so quick to be nasty.
Why not? He’s the most Catholic President ever.
Only Catholics in a state of Grace can receive Communion.
You are right. It is a terrible tragedy. I have no doubt the VP loved his son. I genuinely feel very badly for the Biden family.
Excerpt:
A pall does need to replace a flag while the casket is in the church. However, flags can be placed on the casket before or after it is in the church. The Order of Christian Funerals states:
38. If it is the custom in the local community, a pall may be placed over the coffin when it is received at the church. A reminder of the baptismal garment of the deceased, the pall is a sign of the Christian dignity of the person. The use of the pall also signifies that all are equal in the eyes of God (see James 2:1-9). . . . Only Christian symbols may rest on or be placed near the coffin during the funeral liturgy. Any other symbols, for example, national flags, or flags or insignia of associations, have no place in the funeral liturgy.
132. Any national flags or the flags or insignia of associations to which the deceased belonged are to be removed from the coffin at the entrance to the church. They may be replaced after the coffin has been taken from the church.
