The term “watch” itself is kind of antiquated. The “Apple Band” might have been better.
The term watch is far from old school. Billions of people still wear them. It serves a specific purpose: tell time at a glance in bright, maintenance-free fashion. They’re often waterproof, self-charging, and simple.
People who wear watches still want all these features. Apple fails to deliver. Watch wearers will ditch their impulsive buy assuming they get one, or avoid the product altogether. Non watch wearers got rid of watches because they don’t like them on their wrist. They’ll wear a trinket for about a month, then toss it in a drawer.
Top it off with an Obamacare spiel like Apple is now, and failure is immanent. Shareholders beware.
Watch seems even more appropriate for this product, since that’s about all you can do with the information it gives you, yet it “watches” for much more information than the traditional type does.
Or for the ladies, apple + bracelet = applet.
