Just too cute. Thanks for that little moment of a child’s wonder.

As a kid, too many years ago, I was always excited with trains. Then, the steam engines were replaced with the diesel engines and the magic went away: what’s exciting about a truck with steel wheels? However, for a child who has never experienced steam, I can imagine the excitement and awe.

I'm pinging everyone that bothered responding in-thread or to me by PM re: yesterday's cuteness overload Vanity. Here is another one.

This little boy just found out his Daddy is SUPERMAN:

Norfolk Southern Engineer Nuttle's son watches Dad drive train on route to Binghamton NY via Southern Tier Line. Young man has seen several trips, but first time he understands it's daddy driving. He's shaking with delight! Complete with comments from older siblings.

Delightful...you can just see the wheels in the child’s head whirring around to cognize it all. Just love to watch those childhood moments. Have fond memories of my children’s moments. Thanks for the smile time.

What also struck me was how naturally attentive momma was. When the overwhelming experience of a Eureka moment where he put it all together that daddy was on the train, the little boy was on the edge of starting to cry. Momma kissed him on the cheek and gave comfort that very instant and it was all so reassuring.

I find this generation, the millennials, largely dismissive or negligent of the need for children to have validation or reassurances. Hopefully, I am misjudging a few 30 year-old bad seeds I have known that I would not leave alone in the company of any child.

There are a few good mamas out there. The bad ones just get all the attention. You are so right about the mom in the video. Her delight in her son at that pivotal moment was a joy to see.
