Our oldest cat was our first one, Tiger. She passed away at 19-1/2.
We had a few die young. They were strays who were sick, weren’t
responding to treatments, and had to be euthanized.
My sister had one that made it to 22, a Siamese-Tabby mix. She lost her sight, but she just meowed really loud to “echolocate” herself around the house.
I had never heard of a cat doing that. Isn’t that seriously cool?
Every now and then I'll see it peeking it's head out from under the deck. I've thought about setting out a live trap and catching it and taking it to the humane society but I don't know if it would last long there.
It appears to be healthy and since it's not bothering anything, perhaps I should just leave it alone.....
Don’t you have access to a no kill shelter?
You know, I never thought about that. There's no such shelter but there is a cat rescue group that I got my cat from.
I'll look into it, thanks alot!
Grizabella cat!!
We have an old lady about to turn 21. She’s a little deaf now, & when she wants us to do something she yells...LOUD. Sometimes she comes up behind me very quietly & then cuts loose. It’s a miracle I haven’t left a hole in the ceiling.
I have a cat over 19, he eats Alley Cat dry food for about 15 of those. His claws don’t retract and he gets hung up every now and then but doing ok.
My oldest lived to be 19, she was a diluted calico born in 1987. I have 2 cats, Spunky who will be 15, she is next to me as I type this and Rascal who will be 8. Spunky had three kittens in 2001 but they all passed on, just got Mom left out of the family. Greystone was a grey & white tuxedo cat, he passed at the age of 5 from kidney failure, G.W, had cancer at 10 and the girl, Whitey had kidney failure at 11. Whitey looked like a purebred Snowshoe Cat although she was most likely half or quarter Snowshoe. Whitey was named because she was all white as a kitten except for the grey ears and tail. Whitey would hiss at the TV when Obama came on and also swat him on the screen.
God bless your sweet old lady kitty! She’s telling you guys “I’m hearing-impaired but hear me ROAR!”
If you do leave a hole in the ceiling after she makes one of her ‘requests’, it would be interesting to see the reaction from a home repair man when they hear how the impact crater in the ceiling was made...
:-)
You cannot fool these creatures.
