Are their (the hacker group’s) actions possibly going to taint any criminal prosecution of this case?

Recall that Bill Ayers admitted to being guilty as sin and yet free as a bird because of government impropriety in the case.

Government impropriety will sour evidence, but private citizens uncovering useful information and keeping a cause front and center in the public’s mind is not generally a problem.
