The head of the Cleveland Police Union is demanding an apology after Cleveland Browns wide receiver Andrew Hawkins wore a shirt before Sunday's game that read, "Justice for Tamir Rice - John Crawford."
Rice, a 12-year-old boy, died last month after he was shot by a Cleveland police officer who reportedly mistook his air gun for a real firearm. Crawford was shot and killed by police in August while holding an air rifle in a Wal-Mart.

Have we heard an apology from the police about the homicide yet?
If I'm wrong, I'll admit it, but I seem to remember the story that way
If so .... why should the cops apologize ?
You’ve got it right, as long as “within 3 seconds of exiting the police cruiser” fits within your definition of “eventually”.
Final score, 30-0 Cincinnati.
You got the official version.
Go to youtube & see for yourself. LEO rolled up within feet of the kid & immediately commenced the execution.
Which homicide?
At least the Tamir Rice murder is getting airtime.
Crawford’s, not so much.
Wait a minute ,,, isn’t this the case where a kid had a real looking gun, was told to put it down (or something like that) and was eventually shot because he refused ?

Start apologizing, your not even close.
You are correct there was a 12 year old boy, he had a real looking gun.
He never refused to do anything. The cops sped to within a few feet of him and told him to put down the gun while they were still in the car speeding up to him, impossible that he would have heard them, they stopped the car, one cop jumped out and killed the kid dead, all happened in two seconds according to the park camera.
Yes the cops told a completely different story but that was before it was found that the park had a camera that caught it all. The cops simply murdered a black kid.
This whole thing was unnecessary. The cops personnel file explained that he shouldn’t be trusted with a gun and that he had emotional problems, he should have never been hired by the CPD after he left the other police force because of his problems.
I am so fed up with cops killing people so that they can go home at night I’m ready to puke. Cops need to start paying for their actions, they need to be charged with murder when they commit murder.
There is video clearing the cops.
Kids goes for his gun in his waist.
Apparently that was not the response the police were looking for.
see my #9
The little boy was 5’7” and 195# per the Cuyahoga County ME’s report, and I’ve seen pictures of the toy pistol he was waving around; it was very realistic-looking. This wasn’t a little tyke with a Nerf gun.
It’s a sad situation all around, but this kid clearly hadn’t been raised with a lick of sense or respect for authority.
From what I’ve read so far, the cop in the Rice shooting should never have gotten a job as a cop. He had already been fired from one LEO job and his firearms discipline was atrocious.
“If I’m wrong, I’ll admit it, but I seem to remember the story that way”
You did get it wrong...I watched the video a couple of times. The cops drove up to him within 5 or to 10 feet, the car stopped and within a second you heard the gunshot. The cops claimed the gun was in his pants and he reached for it.
One second is not enough time for the kid to process the situation and react. Is also not enough time for the cop to identify the toy gun and react. If it was in his pants the wouldn’t be able to see an orange tip even if it had one...
The toy gun tip is a red herring anyway, because you can put one on a real gun and take one off a toy gun. The existence of one or absents of one wouldn’t give you the information needed to make a life and death decision. The cops lacked the situational awareness to deal with it and they F@cked up big time.
Notice in my post I used the word “homicide”. I used that term because it absolutely WAS a homicide, by definition.
“Apparently that was not the response the police were looking for.”
How is the kid going to drop the gun with pulling it out of his waist?
According to this report:
“Show me your hands” - police
Kid reaches for gun
“Drop the gun” - police
suicide by cop.
“According to this report: Show me your hands - police
Kid reaches for gun Drop the gun - police “
That would have all had to happen in a 1 second timeframe according to the video we have all seen. Subtract the reaction time of the kid and the cop and that scenario is impossible.
YOU'RE the one that has the wrong perspective.
