National Grid’s new winter rate is 24.24 cents per kilowatt-hour. By comparison, the average electricity rate in the United States is 46 percent cheaper than the National Grid’s rate at only 13.01 cents per kilowatt-hour.

I am about 15 miles south of Boston on the coast.
I have Nat. Grid. MY total electric bill for Jan 4-Feb 4 2014 was $217.02

The rate for electric supply only- was .0922 x 1299 kwh = $119.77 (Plus another $97.25 for misc charges from Nat. Grid.= 217.02

For the same kwh usage this winter with the increased kwh rate it would be .2424 x 1299kwh = $314.87,
(Plus at least a $97.25 Misc charge = $412 or more.

I don't believe most New Englanders are aware of what is going to happen to them until the bills come due.-Tom
