Can somebody explain to me the absolutely CRAZY long lines I’m seeing at every Apple Store I pass by in the wee hours of the morning ( I worked the night shift on a disaster recovery test and saw this with my own eyes ).
Near my place, I could count at least 500 people standing in line at about 1 AM. after the iPhone 6 was announced....
WHY CAN’T PEOPLE WAIT TILL DAYTIME OR EVEN FOR A WEEK OR MORE ? Why must they have it IMMEDIATELY?
Great marketing. It’s pretty much that simple.
Limited supply. If you don’t pre-order on day one, or don’t wait in line, you have to wait a month to get it when supply is available.

Yes, darn it, why not? I guess for the same reason my kids always INSISTED upon opening their presents first thing Christmas morning upon waking up. Jeez, those crazy kids...what’s the rush?
All the Apple cultists that have been sneering at the Galaxy phones "eww, who would ever use a phone that big?!?!" have been suffering a serious case of size envy, so they need a phone the size of the S5 or Note 3, RIGHT NOW!
I don’t know. They’re like zombies. If Ebola comes to America’s shores when Apple has a new phone out, we’d be doomed.
For some it is a make work scheme. They stand in line for someone else and get paid. In a local news report some looked like the homeless. You might call it the occupy apple movement.
Dunno. I pre ordered mine online at 9am or so EST. Delivered to my door yesterday. No fuss no muss.
Why do people wait in line for tickets to some event? Or drive all the way across the country to attend an event in DC?
They want to be a part of something? Just like hanging with people? The experience?
Who knows.
Me, I just ordered online and had the nice man in the brown uniform bring it to me.
I like it. No issues with iOS 8 on the new device or the old.
I’ll tell you this though: the touchID is worth the price of admission alone. I don’t like walking around with an unprotected device, and given the growing prevelance of cameras everywhere; punching in an unlock code every time you need to gets annoying.
