I don’t think Sam was cut because he sucked. You don’t play football at NCAA Division I level if you suck. But just because you can start at Division I doesn’t mean you can play at the NFL level. Michael Sam is a talented football player, but not talented enough to make the leap to the pros. That’s why he was cut. Not because he was gay. But because he doesn’t have the skills to play in the NFL.

There are by now plenty of Vets who have been cut today that will get
a team before Sam. For example, Denver cut Kevin Vickerson, a really
good vet. He will get the call before Michael Sam gets the call.
