Of course they are...
I don’t know why people are so surprised...
I wonder how the film is doing???
I have gone to Barnes and Noble in the last two weeks to buy children's fiction books to read for school this year in Language Arts class and each time I get a slip with my receipt that says "Other books you might like" and on each one they list Hillary's book!!!! HOW does buying a children's books trigger her title???
“I wonder how the film is doing???”
(I’m rounding numbers for discussion purposes...)
The wide opening of the new film made over 2 million dollars. His film “2016: Obama’s America” made 6 million opening weekend in the same number of theaters.
So in that sense, this film isn’t doing as well as his 2012 film.
Other things to consider: nothing brought the boom to the box office this July 4th. J4 is a huge moviegoing weekend, except when J4 falls on a Friday, which it did this year. Also, nobody likes the other movies that are playing, so there’s no “gotta see” or word of mouth happening bringing people to theaters. That type of indifference to what’s playing depresses movie attendance, across the board.
But this is the type of film that plays over the long haul — it doesn’t make all its money the first weekend, like “Transformers.” (And for comparative purposes, “Transformers” is playing in over 4,000 theaters.)
As of this morning, the film’s total in 10 days of release is 4 million, playing in a thousand theaters.
Right now, it’s holding its own. The important number to watch going forward is audience growth — will it make more money this weekend than last weekend? This film needs to build over the next couple of weekends to do as well as or better than its predecessor.
