The game where you pretend you have no hands.
Great game but I think there’s something to think about when people live as they do but billions are being sunk into this spectacle.
Good morning all! So the big day has arrived.
Am intrigued as to who everyone on this thread is pulling for in the World Cup. I assume that, quite rightly, the vast majority here will be for the USA, but there might be a few rogues, like me, who are for other nations.
In the immortal words of John Barnes attempting to rap, ‘Catch me if you can, ‘cos I’m an England man!’
Good luck everyone! The game’s afoot!

The two teams had to come off the pitch for 43 minutes in the first half due to a thunderstorm and the game became spicy when play resumed.
Referee Ricardo Salazar handed Honduras five yellow cards, including two for Brayan Beckeles, who was sent off in the 66th minute after a flying elbow on Leighton Baines.
Gerrard, Adam Lallana, Danny Welbeck, Baines and Glen Johnson were all victims of reckless fouls, although England dished out a few tasty tackles of their own after becoming annoyed by their opponents' physicality.
France wary of physical threat posed by Honduras
France are bracing themselves for combat against a rugged Honduras side in their World Cup Group E opener in Porto Alegre on Sunday, coach Didier Deschamps said on Wednesday.
Deschamps heard English complaints about Honduras's tackling during their 0-0 friendly draw in Miami on Saturday which he watched on television.
"They have aptitudes for going into combat, we're expecting that," Deschamps told a news conference at France's base in Ribeirao Preto the day after their arrival in Brazil.

"To all Brazilians I want to tell you the time has arrived," the last man to lead the country to World Cup glory said. "This is our World Cup. There are seven steps. We have to go up those seven steps but to start we have to think of the first step. We can't jump the seven steps.
"The first step is tomorrow against Croatia. After that we have six steps that we want to go up if we want to win the World Cup."
Croatia know how to stop Neymar, Brazil: Kovac
"We know how to stop Neymar and Brazil," Kovac said at his press conference. "Brazil is not only Neymar - they have a great team, but Croatia also have excellent players.
"All those in the team know how nice it is to play for Croatia and how much we love our people. We will leave our heart on the field."
The teams last met in the 2006 World Cup in Germany, with Brazil winning 1-0, but Kovac says his side will fight for a good result against the five-time world champions and vowed to attack throughout the game.
The coach continued: "In Berlin, we were not able to surprise them, but we will give our best. No surrender - we will attack Brazil! Just as we did in the Serbia friendly. Possession is very important because Brazilians do not like to run for the ball."
