Rolling Stones and Mick Jagger visit Jerusalem's Western Wall before first ever Israel concert

The Rolling Stones were taking the stage in Tel Aviv on Wednesday, and were extremely excited to perform in Israel for the very first time.

Ahead of the milestone show they decided to travel to Jerusalem where they visited the Western Wall.

While Keith Richards skipped the outing, Mick Jagger, Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts were all photographed at the holy spot, also known as the Kotel or Wailing Wall.

Mick, 70, was paying his respects at the sacred site, and was spotted placing a hand on the Wall after following the lead of two men in kippah.

Ronnie, who turned 67 on Sunday, was joined by his wife Sally Humphreys, while Charlie, who celebrated his 73rd birthday on Monday, brought up the rear.

Later that day the band started their concert at Hayarkon Park 45 minutes late, according to Washington Post, in order to give those celebrating the Jewish holiday Shavuot extra time to get there.

The Stones, who are currently taking part in their 14 On Fire world tour, performed some of their best-loved classic hits during the evening.

However fellow rockers Pink Floyd had pleaded with them to cancel their Israel concert.Nick Mason and Roger Waters of the band wrote a letter on Slate last month which read: ‘So, to the bands that intend to play Israel in 2014, we urge you to reconsider.

‘Playing Israel now is the moral equivalent of playing Sun City at the height of South African apartheid; regardless of your intentions, crossing the picket line provides propaganda that the Israeli government will use in its attempts to whitewash the policies of its unjust and racist regime.’

Justin Timberlake performed in Tel Aviv last week, and he too made the trip to Jerusalem to visit the Western Wall.

Gotta hand it to them, not caving to the rants of that raving anti-Semite Roger Waters.

Some Girls are not suckers for those Iranian proxies in Gaza City.

Their pianist Chuck Leavell also visited the Western Wall

Good for them. If y'all want to hear something really good, look up 'The Charlie Watts Big Band'.

It really was a 'big' band, using 30-35 people instead of the normal 20 or so. A young Courtney Pine was one of them.

As a classic rock fan, and after seeing Pink Floyd in concert (once) and the Rolling Stones twice, kudos to the Stones.

For Pink Floyd ... you’ve done too much drugs.

Perhaps the death of Mic’s girlfriend got him thinking about his own demise. Either way, glad they made an independent decision.

“Charlie Watts”

Probably my favorite guy in all of music. Saved his money, avoided drugs, and regularly makes the English best dressed list. And he understands how things ARE.

He was in his hotel room one night after a concert. Mick Jagger and a large bunch are partying downstairs. Mick calls up to Charlie's room and invites him down. Charlie says he's not interested. Jagger screams into the phone, “I want my f#$^%ing drummer to come down here and have a drink with me.

Charlie gets up, shaves, dresses impeccably, and goes down stairs. When Jagger opens the door, Charlie punches him in the mouth. As Jagger hits the floor he says, “I'm not your F#$%ing drummer, you're my F#$%ing singer. And goes back upstairs.

It's the taking time to shave and dress that just kills me!

That’s wonderful. I’m so glad that they are doing this very good thing at this time in their lives. I hope that it makes a difference.

Charlie dabbled a little bit with drugs, especially during the Some Girls sessions, but it was Keith that wised him up, and he’s been clean ever since.

Thank you Stones. A very moving place to visit no matter what one’s religious beliefs. As a Catholic, I had the opportunity to visit and pray at the Western Wall and tuck my written prayer into the wall. Every few months, all prayers are removed. They are burned so that the smoke from the prayers can symbolically rise up to heaven.

As to Pink Floyd. Well, I never purchased one of their albums anyway. Sure glad I bought most of the Stones albums.

So will Mick Jagger have the gall to sing "Sympathy for the Devil" in the Holy Land?

For all those cheering the Stones (and in no defense of Roger Waters here), I'd temper my praise until I knew.

FReegards!

Perhaps you might consider reading the lyrics to that song. It doesn’t present Lucifer in a good light.

It’s ironic.

Dude Pink Floyd is one of the all time best. It saddens me though that all the members are Anti-semetic ass holes.
