Life Portrait of Ronald Reagan (C-Span video)
It's been 10 years since President Reagan went home to be with the Lord. I remember watching every minute of the coverage after he passed.
I was looking for the video when Brian Lamb visited the Reagan ranch. Although this is from the ranch it's not the one I was looking for. If anyone can find that video, please post it to this thread.
As a child, Ronald Reagan was what I thought a President was suppose to be and would always be. Optimistic, tough, freedom loving, funny, dignified and caring. I had no idea what was on it's way. With Clinton I thought we had reached our lowest point. Not even close.
One of my favorite Reagan speeches is his address to the nation after the Challenger tragedy. He was supposed to give the annual State of the Union speech, but instead, the President addressed a nation in mourning. His words were comforting, uplifting and strengthening. He believed that while we were in mourning at that point in time, we would with God's help carry on. So string was his faith in God and his belief in America's exceptionalism.
Try finding any of those elements in any of Obama’s speeches after a tragedy. All he can talk about is himself.
It's unbelievable how low this nation has sunk since President Reagan. I pray to God we will find such leadership again. And soon.
I watch, with raptured attention and fell apart when Nancy knelt to give Ronnie one last kiss on his coffin.
A year later, a friend treated me to a visit at the library.
I went through the library, as a child, visiting a hero.
Upon reaching RR’s grave site I broke down once again, as I admired his beautiful interment and took in the splendor of his perfect view of the valley.
I recalled my pride in his presidency and the wonder of his presidency being the first I voted for, when I came of age.
truly an amazing experience and I will visit again later this year.
Rest in Peace, good man.
you instilled pride in our America and I always recall your speech of our Shining City on the Hill.
praise God for all you did for our amazing country and the untold numbers, in other countries, who were freed because of your vision and indomitable spirit.
We went to the moon and left a car, with the keys in the ignition.
Why?
Because, we are the only ones going back.
Nes Paux
You always had a cheerful spirit and amazing humorous quips, giving levity during serious events.
OUtlawing the USSR was the funniest moment, next to cleverly vowing not to take exploit Walter Mondale’s youth and inexperience.
Your superb partnership with the Pope, Jeanne Kirkpatrick and Lech Walesa. ..stroke of genius. In concert with them and Star Wars destroyed a truly Evil Empire
I pray you are working with God the Father, The Holy Spirit and Jesus to deliver another majority, with leadership on par with Newt Gingrich and another amazing President, who will carry your vision forward and improve our human condition forward.
I am always Proud to be an American.
To see how the nation loved him, just view the week long funeral that he had. It is uplifting and sad at the same time.
Is Ted Cruz the Ronald Wilson Reagan of 2016? Hope so...
He was the greatest president in my lifetime and the very first person I voted for for president,
I was a teenager and didn’t appreciate at the time what a great man, and president he was. The older I get, the more I appreciate him, and am honored to vote for him.
And yes, when Nancy gave the last kiss on the coffin, I wept like I haven’t wept since I was a child.
Thank you President Reagan. R.I.P.
