Every dog has it's day ... and in the case of the Lab/Chow mix that viciously attacked a little boy only to be scared off by hero cat -- his last day was Saturday.
Sources at the Bakersfield animal shelter tell TMZ ... Scrappy was euthanized at the end of a 10-day hold following the attack. We're told the dog was aggressive during his stay at the shelter, even trying to bite a couple of employees.
Scrappy was so ornery ... we're told he would try to attack staff even when they tried to give him food and water.

Was he euthanized with a drug cocktail? Otherwise, how could it have been humane?

I may get flamed for this, but I am more cautious around Chows than Pit Bulls. In my personal experience, there are far more of them highly aggressive than any other breed. They are territorial and tend to be one person or one family dogs.
If you ever see a Chow shaved, you may mistake them for a Pit Bull. They are shaped very similar under all that fur.

Tara, the dog didn’t make you a hero cat, you did that yourself.

You wonder what cruelty the dog was subjected to that made it so hostile to humans.

Why not use a soft rubber basket muzzle? We had to do that with an aggressive dog and it worked well.

I wonder if it is not a general rule that those who keep savage dogs have a felony record?

Yes, it’s unfortunate, but that really was a vicious dog. A nice dog is very nice, a bad dog is terrifying. The way he went after that kid was frightening, and quite frankly I’m not sure the mother would have been able to get the better of things if the cat hadn’t been there.

Dog owners in two other cities who have seen the video believe that Hero cat resembles the same cat who got their dogs euthanized after being video taped in attacks, that they now claim the cat seems to have staged by setting up the dogs to provoke a response which could then be used as deadly evidence against them.

It’s owner did not exert leadership, so the dog assumed leadership.
Then, when the dog exibited aggressiveness, the owner encouraged it (by not correcting it).

The dog escaped from its yard and attacked a 4-y/o child without provocation. No second chances with that.
