It’s inherent with a collectivist worldview to cluster up with fellow collectivists to live under to protection of the collective.
Living in sparsely populated areas is for people of a more independent mindset. They’re not asocial, they’re just independent.
Of course, you are right. I happen to love the country and the city equally. But I’m always (as a friend of mine says) yinging when I should be yanging.
