"This is why the whole question of whether he paid his fees is a red herring. The government changed the rules in an effort to drive people like him out of business. Even if he had paid, hed still have had to break the rules to survive. Thats the position bureaucrats put him in. Obey our silly, arbitrary rules designed to protect a desert tortoise that no one can show hes hurting in any way or give up your way of life...."

No.
Is he a hero?
No.
Hes just a man who decided that he didnt want to lose his ranch when the government arbitrarily changed the rules in order to deliberately destroy his business.
As Cliven Bundy said,
Years ago, I used to have 52 neighboring ranchers, he said. Im the last man standing. How come? Because BLM regulated these people off the land and out of business.

A well reasoned article with photos
I hope the BLM comes for the property of each and every idiot here and throughout the media (They will eventually) that spouts off on this claiming he’s a kook/lawbreaker.
I have a few years experience with the BLM and that particular office from my Off-Road.com years. It may be different people today but I can assure people they have one order of business. Remove the public from public land.
Unless you are a Sierra Clubber/Democrat. People should read up before they spout off.
They are both lazy Bast@rds and un-American.
Thanks for posting this.

We need to make MooseShell obtain a grazing license for her abuse of Government property.
What bothers me is that every Federal Department and Agency has its own military wing.
It may have existed before 9/11, but the excuse for every gov’t agency to become a military force was cemented in place with 9/11, the formation of DHS, and the unlimited government money for “security” that has been made available.
The dangerous and evil effects will start to be seen more and more frequently.
No representation. Who can we vote out for this? No one. I'm thinking it's time to quit obeying alphabet agencies' directives as not having been passed by proper legislation. We may as well have the government of Uzbekistan passing laws on us.

Mr GG2 can also attest to that from personal experience.
Amen brother. I used to work with for the National Park Service. They didn’t care about history - they literally made historic structures that had never existed out of old parts, whatever they wanted to keep their $$ flowing. Did you know the NPS Lincoln’s Birthplace IS NOT his real birthplace? Oh and don’t even get me started on what they do to anything connected to the revolution. They despise that history.
IMHO the most important point made in the article. Why was the Sheriff not out there ordering those jack boots to cease military operations in his county? I wouldn't expect him to get into a shootout with the Fedscum but he should at least have issued the lawful order. The true evil here is the Federal government but I would hope the good people of Clark county send that collaborator packing come election time.
I grew up on a sheep ranch in Washington state. We grazed on National forest land in the burnt off areas of the high Cascades. Washington used to have lots of large sheep ranches. The Federal Government close off the National Forests for grazing. Now there is NO sheep ranches in Washington. Basically they are doing the same thing in Nevada.
Bttt
The fundamental goal is to destroy a producer economy and our founding culture of capitalism and individual reward for the individual that expends his energy. In it's place they will have entitled consumers...
This nation has become the world's largest sheep ranch... all overgrazing, if you catch my drift.
Corruption and debt are the real issues. Corrupt politicians want to put land onto the federal balance sheet so they can sell leases and real estate to their sponsors. As they’ve done this for 50 years and racked up huge deficits buying votes the end game approaches.
If I was there I would have had this sign:
If we revolt who will pay your debts?
They need to clean up their act and fast. If/when a collapse comes the reconstruction will go VERY HARD on the crooks who got us there.
I have handled many IRS collection cases. They always weight the potential recovery to the cost of collecting. To spend millions trying to recover unpaid fees by confiscating a few cows is a terrible use of our money.
bttt,, thanks for the pictures
“Because BLM regulated these people off the land and out of business.”
Nobody ever says what this means? How did they get regulated off their land? Fail to pay fees? Retire? What are the specifics for each of these ranchers?
Fees, environmental regulations, sudden ‘laws’ that vary by day, place and circumstance all go toward making life too expensive or too dangerous to risk ones/a group/businesses financial future on the ever changing whims of BLM regulation.
If you want a quick example, read up on what the BLM did to the sport of Off-road racing in the California and no Nevada deserts. They were regulated to near extinction over desert tortoises and ‘fees’ that doubles and more year to year.
That is one better known example. there are MANY more.
