Steven Colbert won a PEABODY AWARD? Is that not an award for "public service" and/or "journalism"? Hello? "The Steven Colbert Report" is SATIRE, and unbalanced satire at that. How does that serve the public interests?

I have never seen his show, only clips. Is he going to be himself, if he exists, or the fake eeeevil conservative? How long does that Schtick work? Mocking and mocking gets so old. It’s not genuinely funny when it’s all on one side.

He’s an a hole but if he is French they do pronounce it that way. Or Canadian. I won’t fault him that.

Best coach in NHL is not pronounced Roy. It is pronounced Rwoah. It’s not pretentious, it’s his name. So I’ll give the commie that.

He and that other idiot on Comedy Central have won every Emmy in their category since their shows came out. Sick.

Given it’s way past my bedtime I’ll DVR the first show with Coalbear for research purposes.

Hmmm, who knows. But I can share these two things.

Back in 2007, I was playing Rugby with Montclair (NJ) Rugby FC. Training was Tuesday and Thursday nights. After Thursday’s training sessions, we usually went to the bar for uh, “chalk talk”. One Thursday night he was there by himself, enjoying a coke and the bar’s awesome Burger. He saw 20 some odd guys who looked like the were just finished doing something athletic and he made small talk. Most of us knew who he was. He was interested that his town had a RFC, and doubly when we told him we are in the Union’s championship match the upcoming Saturday. He saw that the guys were ordering burgers, onion rings and fries, and of course beer.

When our bill came, the guy picked up the tab for all of our food, but not beer. It was about a $180 food bill, and he gave the help a $50 tip. He expressed the the beer is your responsibility, drive responsible. He seemed like a genuinely nice guy.

Next, last week I was visiting friends in the area and my friend told me his kid and her kid are in the same Sunday school that he teaches.

I thought that was interesting.

Jimmy Fallon rejoices. His ratings will go through the roof.

Is Colbert going to continue to be a Bill O’Reily parody?

Jon Stewart already had a late night talk show in the 1990s.

They want the “hipster” audience anyway, not this old fogie.

The hipster audience stopped watching Letterman decades ago.

He will not be doing the Colbert Report ‘schtick’ on The Late Show.

What else has he got?

Here’s the thing...his gimmick of I’m-a-Republican-pretender act....has a limit, and won’t fit for the Late Night Show.

Agreed. But he's already said that he's retiring the character and will do the show as himself. So the new host of the Late Night show will be a practicing Catholic who teaches Sunday School. That ought to be interesting.
