I have found myself losing business left and right because of the evolution of the internet.
I am looking for a simple program that will import an existing webpage, allow the user to edit and change components and then publish the modified page back to the web. I am willing to pay for something that is proven and can be trusted.
All the different platforms and their different video and audio codecs are driving me out of business. I constantly get contact emails saying they cannot see my video and yet it works for me in Chrome and Firefox.
I welcome a freeper that is a website programmer to contact me by freeper email.
Thanks for listening.
actually I’d appreciate people commenting and directing all of us to good web based programs in general for constructing/hosting. I’ve had all sorts of advice over the years, and am in the process of redoing my webspace.
I’ve just closed my eyes again
Climbed aboard the Dreamweaver train
Driver take away my worries of today
And leave tomorrow behind...
Top 10 best website builders:
There are a bunch of Free website hosting companies.
I assume you have tried GoDaddy ?
BTW, what type of business is this ?
Can you send a link to your current site ?
Pages I had years ago still load but videos won’t play on many of the platforms.
Big outfits like YouTube will serve out webpages to operate properly on all the newest platforms. Those of us with simple html pages are left in the dust. It could be an iphone or ipad or Android or a slew of others. There’s gotta be programs that create code that senses the browser platform and make the pages and videos created serve properly.
On video files, might be
.avi
.mp4
.ogv
Audio might be
.mp3
.ac3
.aac
Much of the video/audio codec confusion is due to lawsuits and copyrights. Tablet manuf have to make things different or they get sued. In turn the website creators have a mess to deal with.
Post 4. I agree.
I wonder if your video is in Flash? A lot of moblie devices don’t recognize flash. I made a slide show in Flash for site and leanred this the hard way.
My site is
keepsakevideo.com
Started in 1996.
You should get Dreamweaver CS6 and if you have time study how to use it, it’s amazing program but you would have to have some understanding of HTML, Css, Javascript, but what it does is show you how a website will look on all those browsers plus mobile devices before you publish it. There are free lessons all over the place on how to use it.
Good luck on that.
When you find something or someone ... whatever you do ... always make sure you’ve got the iPhone and iPad market covered - because they (by far) use the web more than other similar platforms and they have money to spend and tend to spend more of it.
When I go to a company and find that they cannot design a website to cover iPhone and iPad, then I know that company is not worth wasting my time on. I never bother coming back to them, again.
If everyone will contact me via email (here at this site) and Jim approves I will give you a contact (not my company btw) that can do any and all website designs and maintenance. Am a fan of the owner, btw. The company is located in NC. Jim send you a ping for full disclosure.
Try Wix.com...I use it and the website builder is a simple program to use...and free! You may transfer your domain name there.
My brother was telling me last week someone came up with a program that converts Flash so it can be played on mobile devices. I have to ask him again the name because I wouldn’t mind that at all. I’m fed up with having to convert everything to MP4 videos today or use Javascript or 10 billion other languages. Flash is awesome, you get video and sound in a very small file plus you can program it for customer interaction but nooooooo, Apple had to say to hell with Flash being the biotches they are.
Seamonkey!
For over a year now I have 3 version of everyone of my video files.
I have
.ogv
.mp4
.flv
And I still have more feedback of ‘not able to play.’ than play.
And its wastes 3 times the data storage space and rather useless.
I just tried to run the videos from his site and my andriod phone won’t run them. I bet it is Flash. Cant check source code from phone, or don’t know how.
bfl
I use yola.
I don’t think you can go wrong with mp3 and mp4.
Stay Away from Bluehost. They suck
Simple uploading files using FTP, something most other web hosters had perfected by 1996, is such a freaking constant hassle with Bluehost.
