Dog eaten in its kennel by a python: Owner finds snake with leash still dangling from its mouth
the Daily Mail ^ | 14 March 2014

An Australian woman discovered her pet dog had been eaten by a snake in the most gruesome possible way after finding a bloated python lying curled in its kennel with the end of the dog's chain still dangling from its mouth.

Amazingly, the wildlife-lover had only chained her Chihuahua-Maltese cross overnight to stop it disturbing native animals near her Caniaba home in northern NSW, but it meant there was no escaping the 2.5-metre python that slithered into the kennel.

When the woman went outside to let the dog off its chain the following morning, she discovered the bloated snake curled up inside the kennel. The end of the chain was protruding from its mouth.

Things got worse for the shocked pet owner when she realised the chain that had been keeping her dog in its kennel was now ensuring the giant snake couldn’t get away either.

Now we know why the dog was barking so much.

At least the snake was not punished for her stupidity.

I was glad to see its ‘gastrointestinal distress” will be properly alleviated.

Stupid woman.

She got what she wanted: the dog stopped barking.

Who knew Oz had snakes?

They are dancing snakes, with the flute, bellydancer and the whole nine yards. Then, the wizard comes out and does tricks. His specialty is the disappearing act. He lands in...you guessed it...OZ.

I’ve heard of snakes getting birds that are left outside on patios or lanais with the same result. Little birdie is gone and fact snake is at bottom of cage.

I feel bad for the dog, but it’s pretty funny that the snake was chained to the cage, from the inside.

Stupid woman.

It never ceases to amaze me how oblivious people are to their surroundings.

Case in point, in my area, if tether a small dog or cat outside, odds are you will feed a chicken hawk or eagle.

Therefore, don’t *do* that.

Stupid people.

One of my goats was, in his former life, chained to a dog house up on the mountain where packs of eastern wolves roamed.

That’s how I ended up with him.

I went up and got him.

Reminds me of that scene in the second Jurassic Park movie where the T.Rex comes into the suburban backyard and there’s a little dog chained to his doghouse yapping his brains out.

I honestly didn’t know there were pythons in Australia. I knew they had just about every variety of poisonous snake and reptile imaginable, but I didn’t know they had the constrictor types, too.

Anyway, that would be one dead snake at my house. Snakes are like spiders: when you see one, it’s best to take off and nuke the site from orbit.

It’s the only way to be sure...

That's when it's time to introduce Mr. Snake to Mr. Shotgun.
