I guess. I saw the road this afternoon. One lane is pretty much black for miles.

sticky makes the road slippery? I had the same thought at first, but if the sticky syrup has any thickness on the road (because the thick stuff won't flow well), drivers on 1/2 inch or more of syrup are going to have a lot less traction than tire on road surface.
