I honestly don't think they even believe the stuff they peddle. I think they're attention whores who know that homos are the most beloved and lionized minority at present, and by protesting them they may provoke a response which will engender a huge payout in civil litigation.

I tend to think they're more mercenary than missionary in their *contempt* of sin.

Well, yeh. And honestly, I wouldn’t care if they were sincere. It’s their tactics I despise. If I expect gays to keep their opinions and choices to themselves, I expect Pentecostal groups to do the same.

I'll agree with you on the attention whore part but disagree with you on the first part. I think Westboro truly, honestly, sincerely believes everything they say. Including their "God hates dead soldiers" claims.
