or the first time in 50 years, the educational balance among married couples has tipped towards women. Wives are more likely to be the better educated partner than the other way around. The trend is particularly sharp among newlyweds; in 2012 almost 40% of college educated women were married to a guy without a degree.
This is a big reversal from the 30 year trend between 1960 and 1990, when it was the men who were marrying down, educationally speaking. The difference is not yet huge; Pew researchers, using data from the American Community Survey and the Decennial Census, found that in 2012, 21% of wives had advanced further academically than their spouses, while 20% of husbands were the more educated ones. But it appears to be growing; counting just newlyweds (those married in the 12 months before the survey), more than a quarter of the women had chosen a partner with less education, while 15% of men did the same.
The trend is not necessarily due to the fact that women are smarter than men. More women than men have been graduating from college at all levels—bachelors, masters and doctoral—for several years, so it was simply a matter of time until the marriage pool reflected that.

It is more accurate to say that women are now more credentialed.
A degree in some useless humanities nonsense doesn’t confer education, but it can result in a credential.
I don’t think “degrees” in “women’s studies” and “business communications” really count as education.

My wife is more educated than I am. She has a masters, and I don’t. I still like to think we married across. Plus, I can still take her in two pin falls out of three.
My daughter is almost certain to marry down in this way. She likes to feel protected so she keeps dating cops and Marines. The average highly-educated nebbish is less capable with a gun or a truck than she is, and as beautiful and graceful as she is, she intimidates liberal nebbishes when they see her driving an F-350 dually and hauling a loaded six-horse GN. Or when they see her with a .45 or a 2-gauge. She wants someone who is not only unintimidated by that stuff, but will be delighted and will know more about it than she does.
If a degree were what it was 60 years ago this would be a big deal. I mostly recruit salespeople. Do you think a degree is the first thing I look at?
Education is what you major in if you don't want to have to study.

Today 20 % of College and University Graduates are unemployed 6 months after Graduation, and are called “educated homies.”
Should 1 in 5 students chose to be educated homies, or spend their time learning a trade where men still outnumber women.
Well, unless they want to be a politician where men still outnumber women.

My thoughts...
Women still want a man to provide for the family. My guess is the more educated and liberal the more she sees her husband as a chump to pay the bills while she pursues HER individual hobbies.
Women will still take these suckers to the cleaners. I find it hard to believe the education gap is because women are taking engineering courses. They are taking feminist leaning courses that brainwash them in to believing men are pigs, wallets, and sperm donors.
Call me jaded. Cuz I am. I do no see anything good from this report.
