CONCORD, Calif. — A student effort to come up with a special menu for Black History Month backfired at a Northern California high school. Interim President Sister Ann Bernard of Carondelet High School in Concord, Calif., said students who were members of the Black Student Union club at neighboring De La Salle High School planned a special lunch to celebrate the month. The menu included fried chicken, corn bread and watermelon. "They thought this was a very clever way, in their own way, of celebrating Black History Month. It was as simple, and naive as that," Sister Bernard explained. On Thursday Bernard publicly apologized for the event she said was planned without following procedures to get staff approval.

Who knew menu’s could be insensitive?
They can blow their “sensitivities” outta their Obamaholes.
There’s nothing wrong with that menu, and as a southern boy, I ate that all the time. I’m not fat, and I’m not ashamed of good food.
And these were black kids? Who’d a thunk it? Scratch a black teen, find a racist.
When I was at sea on a boomer, we used to have ethnic nights where the crew members of various ethnicities would plan and prepare the evening meal.
On Black people’s night, the black guys aboard the boat prepared a meal of fried chicken, chitlins and corn bread. Except for the chitlins (which no white guy ate) it was delicious and the cooks were quite proud of their meal.
The left out the collards and the blackeyed peas.

Black teens from a neighboring HS black student club planned the menu for a Catholic HS, and leftists objected? How did all this happen? Who’s running the Catholic school?
As a white Southerner who grew up on fried chicken, cornbread, and watermelon, I object to the PC claque for their discrimination against Caucasians!
The indoctrination into the liberal mindset just hasnt been thorough enough.

More people hoping to be “offended” and get a free “apology” for something. Too many people in this country really need their obnoxious ***es kicked. Would they have been “offended” it this wasn’t “Black History” month?
I’m confused. They are mad because it enforces stereotypes. So does that mean its bad because black people really don’t eat that kind of food, or does it mean that great numbers of black people really do eat that food. Are we going to have to ban fried chicken restaurants?
If anything, it was being SENSITIVE to try to honor the ethnic food choices of the group being recognized.
Of course, the victimhood is strong with this one, so they couldn’t let the opportunity pass.

Indeed, that's a huge oversight. The funny thing is, the school might've been able to sneak some "Hoppin' John" past these malcontents.

heck! there isn't even such a thing as "Black History" separate from American History. There is no such thing as African culture or black culture. The failure of the politics of identity is that it continues to lump individuals into arbitrary groups which are then prone to stereotyping. Like a dog chasing its tail.
That menu is a staple at almost every Amvets, American Legion, Loyal Order Of Moose, VFW event I’ve ever attended (we DO add steamed crabs here in Maryland). People need to get a life.
And yet there’s apparently no problem with casting black people in KFC commercials...
