New estimates that President Barack Obamas health care law will encourage millions of Americans to leave the workforce or reduce their work hours have touched off an I-told-you-so chorus from Republicans, whove claimed all along that the law will kill jobs. But some arent telling it straight. [ ]
In a key point overlooked in the GOP response, the report says, The estimated reduction stems almost entirely from a net decline in the amount of labor that workers choose to supply, rather than from a net drop in businesses demand for labor.
In other words, workers arent being laid off. They are taking themselves out of the workforce, in many cases opening job opportunities for others.

They’re just touting the latest White House talking points fax - like good little robots.
Next they’re going to say the sun has absolutely no bearing on Earth’s climate whatsoever.
The koolaid is double strong with these monkey feces throwers.
In other words, if decent people will pay for their food, medical care, and housing, parasites will choose to stay at home. Only a liberal would think this was a positive.
Simply stated, the companies are liberating their employees from “job lock”.
Hey, Calvin! Why don’t you take yourself off the AP plantation and go out and just become a “writer” as Nancy effused.
Yeah, that’s it, just start writing. That will bring in a lot of income, you can pay your bills because so many people want to pay to read what you’ve written, and you have all he time in the work to just be YOU.
And it will get you off the propaganda treadmill.
.
Seriously, these people are grade A, class one numbnuts
The author is being deliberately stupid. This report does indeed focus on the supply side. How Obamacare turns people of modest earnings ability into fools if they continue to work. This is independent of the effect of Obamacare on the 29ers (hiring people into part-time jobs where so the employer doesn’t have to provide health insurance). It says nothing, one way or the other, on that other impact of Obamacare. That would be the demand side. Congressman Ryan was correct to say that we, as a society, should be concerned about work (as well as family). By not taking that first step on the economic ladder, subsequent steps up the ladder are precluded. Obamacare and the whole slew of welfare programs that we now have create a moocher class in our country. People who work part-time if at all, and rely on the state for their sustenance. Add to problem to the collapse of the family, and it is clear that our country is in big country. It may already be too late to do anything about it. So, nobody should worry too much one way or the other. At this point, it is most likely that the U.S. will head to a collapse, sort of like Greece only much larger. While it is unlikely that the U.S. will turn around, it’s worth the effort. But, everyone should have an exit plan. And, we should begin to organize for our states to withdraw from the union.
I’m too stunned at the lack of logic being applied and too pressed for time this morning to make a real response to the article.
But ObamaCare is imposing the 'job lock' burden on decent Americans, on those of us who now have to work harder to pay for insurance for those who choose to quit working.
Calvin doesn’t appear to be very bright. He shouldn’t allow himself to be used by his ‘RAT masters like that.
You know, at least the journalists for Pravda and Izvestia could blame their total commitment to the Party on the fact that there was a literal gun to their head. I wonder how that makes our journos feel? Maybe like a really, really cheap date.
It's about the subsidies. If you aren't working you get subsidies. Or, in other words, you can get someone else to pay for it.
When you think about it, liberal ‘intellectuals’ (which so many journolists purport to be) are really intellectually lazy.
They don’t often come up with new and uninvestigated ideas and situations; they are GIVEN assignments by Obama and his ilk. Tailored homework, if you will, and their outputs are usually just tired old retreaded one-sided arguments for the absurd. Original thought is a mystery to them.
That is the economic damage of a total of 96Million lost work-hours per year, every year, until “hell freezes over.”
That’s 96Million work-hours less income that can be spent at stores, restaurants, and other businesses all across the country. That’s a loss to the standard of living for every worker involved, and to their spouses, and their children. That’s a hit on the US economy, and on the tax base.
Regardless how the hours are lost, they’re still lost as a result of federal legislation and a violation of the Constitutional rights of the American people.
AP makes it sound like the hours lost is the “choice” of those workers involved. But who gave those workers the option of being involved in ObamaCare and being forced into the situation where they have to decide to cut their hours in order to reduce the cost of healthcare?
workers arent being laid off. They are taking themselves out of the workforce
Ohhhh...that’s different...except they are being given MY money to make that choice.
Here’s a thought...reduce their subsidies...and increase them as they work.
Pravda during the cold war never lied as shamelessly as the AP does covering for Obunghole.
If it is good that workers are deciding to take themselves out of the workforce, why did we spend $1T in stimulus dollars to create jobs?
