I don’t see in the article that the dog was on a leash, or restrained by a fence.
If dogs are allowed to run loose, bad things can happen.
The dog was in the owner’s yard. At any rate, until cops start paying for this it will just go on.
My sister has a 9 yr old Labradoodle that is the sweetest dog in the world. She is often unrestrained on her own property and will bark at strangers. Is that enough to shoot her?
Lots of people have electronic Invisible Fences.
I don’t see in the article where the officer was restrained from ‘crossing front yards’ without permission.
You better keep your children on a leash when they are outside, also.Any living thing can cause an officer to “feel threatened.” If an officer “feels threatened” he is obligated to kill the object of that feeling.
He was in his own yard, genius

Seems to me that based on the news story, the LEO has twmperament issues. You don’t go up to the owner and state you “unloaded” on the dog. That is a clear giveaway to me of a temperament issue.
Additionally, where was shooting the dog on the use of force continuum? Did the officer attempt any non-lethal methods to warn the dog off?
