Thanks for the Ringy Dingy Pingy. Weather has been great here in NW California but I am just getting over my cold and not doing anything except feed the birds. I spent 3 hours in my garden chair soaking up the sunshine today plus a little cleanup here and there. My garlic has recovered from the bear walking on it and the last plants are up. It looks like I have about a 95% success rate and they are healthy. I will fertilize them just before the next rain if there is a next rain. The common vetch is taking off and averages about 6 or 7 inches tall and is suppressing weed growth. I will pickup a gross of barefoot Sea Scape strawberries early next week at a nearby mom & pop nursery.
Just heard on the news that the snain will continue tonight and tomorrow and repeat in 3 day waves over the weekend and next week.
They also issued a warning about walking on sidewalks. Thin sheets of black ice everywhere including the roads. Youngest daughter made it home safe and sound. I'll be watching the news to see if there's any mass parking lots on the interstate in St. Louis or Kansas City.
I just have to say, back when I was driving in this crap, people made sure to get off the middle of the road before abandoning their vehicles. I was glad when front wheel drive became the usual on my commuter vehicles.
Of course the majority of the people in our county have a 4 wheel drive, even though we are considered a poverty area, and they cost a lot for gasoline. Too many back roads and hills. If you don't have one you are stuck when it rains or snows, sleets etc. Also handy for bringing in the deer for the processing.
