(snip) Comet ISON (C/2012 S1) is nearing the climax...(snip) What will emerge after perihelion into the December dawn? A naked-eye marvel, a binocular-only target for amateur astronomers with good charts, or nothing at all? Maybe the latter, a new report this morning suggests. Michal Drahus posts: (snip)We observe consistent, rapid fading of the molecular emission lines between Nov. 21 and Nov. 25 by at least a factor of 20 (likely more). This may indicate that the nucleus is now at best marginally active or that... it no longer exists.
(snip) I am afraid that there is rather "little hope" for comet C/2012 S1 (ISON). Parent molecules have very short lifetime, thus they are a good approximation of the current activity level of a cometary nucleus. Even if there is no nucleus, we will continue to observe the comet on STEREO images [as in the movie at the top of this page] for a day, two, or even a bit longer.
The comet may even still brighten a bit since it is approaching the Sun, and even a "cloud of dust" will reflect more light in such a situation. But a dramatic decrease in molecules' emission lines while comet is quickly approaching the Sun suggests that the nucleus is no longer active. Too soon to panic, we say, but there are other ominous signs. ISON failed to brighten much as it was disappearing into the dawn a couple of days ago. It gave off a big dust release around the 19th, perhaps hinting of disintegration, followed by less dust production despite the increasing heat. And by the 22nd there were reports that the nucleus's center of brightness was lagging behind its predicted position by about 5 arcseconds, as if most of the light was now coming from trailing rubble. Ping for later
If you can’t stand the heat, stay away from the sun.
One has to wonder if ISON will actually hit us and they have known for years and they instead of trying to stop it even if there is only a 1% change of stopping it (Deep Impact Style) the power elite just adopted a “screw it and party like it is 1999” policy and this is why they have been pillaging everything,...
spaceweather.com is still calling Ison intact and is expecting a brilliant show on the other side of the sun.
It better not be an omen for He Who Must Not Be Named’s administration: It would be more an omen for a ‘healing of a deadly wound’, in that case.
COMET ISON, SO FAR SO GOOD: Comet ISON is hurtling toward the sun today at 240,000 mph and, despite the rising heat, the comet appears to be intact. Yesterday, reports of fading spectral lines from the comet’s core raised concerns that the icy nucleus might be disintegrating. Current images from NASA and ESA spacecraft, however, show the comet still going strong. Comet ISON has just entered the field of view of the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO):

NASA’s STEREO-A spacecraft is also monitoring the comet. Click to view a high-resolution movie (32 MB), which compresses 96 hours into less than 1 minute: (movie at link)

The movie spans a 3+ day interval from Nov. 21 to Nov. 24 roughly centered on the period when astronomers at the IRAM telescope in Spain recorded fading emission lines from the comet’s core. Zoom your movie-player to full screen: Although “puffs” of material can be seen billowing down the comet’s tail, the comet itself does not appear to be disintegrating. So what caused the fade...?
“I will admit that I was pretty worried yesterday morning when reports of lower production rates came in,” says Matthew Knight of the Lowell Observatory and NASA’s Comet ISON Observation Campaign. “However, the STEREO-A brightness has increased steadily over the subsequent 36 hr, and I’m more optimistic again. My off-the-cuff thought is that there was an [outburst of dust, which dampened the emission lines] from roughly Nov 20-22, and it has returned to brightening again.” [snip]
Surely you jest.
Don’t call me Surely!
“A fiery comet with the speed of light, a cloud of dust and a hearty ‘Hi-yo Silver, away!’ It’s the Lone Ranger!”
“Could this report be interpereted as an omen of the disappearing power of the U-NO-HOO administration?”
Well, if it is then the comet is definitely racist. I can hardly wait to see that report on MSNBC.

Their secret longing
Like a bolt out of the blue
Fate steps in and sees you through
When you wish upon a star
Your dreams come true

nah, it has effectively disintegrated. No sky show, no impact - once again nostradamus and his followers are incorrect. DC has been partying with our money, well, because they are a bunch of shelfish bastards.
Now Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews’? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.
When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.”Matthew 2:1-2, 9-10.
“...and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.”
Now THAT’s what true hope and change (repentance from sin) is about! (Not what the blasphemer purports.)
It will definitely be the ISON the cake if it survives...............
Thanks all!
