Not the best but my most memorable Thanksgiving was in the jungle in Viet Nam northwest of Siagon. Turkey and dressing and all the trimmings. They flew in helicopter loads of food for us.

Mine is kida like yours. My First Thankgiving in the United States Navy was onboard USS Independence CV-62 in 1980 enroute to the N/ Arabian Sea during the Iran Hostage Crisis. Waited in the Chow Line for 2 1/2 HOURS. The Resultant “food” was MARGINAL at Best(The Indy was ALWAYS a CRAPPY “Feeder”).

November 23, 1984. I was at my Fiance’s house in Trumbull CT. Flutie threw the Hail Mary Pass and then my Fiance’s father gave me The Hunt for Red October as an early Christmas present.

Buddy of mine was on field maneuvers Christmas in Germany. Freezing their butts off. word cam down that they were getting hot Turkey meals flown in. Sure enough, a helicopter with a steaming container hung under it showed up. When the container was set down the all rushed up to see little cans of Turkey C-rations floating in hot water.
