Absolutely you can eat them. They’re tougher than the pork in your freezer though. Cook them loooong and low...

Wow! I sense a major village BBQ in the offing.

They're going to need 200 lbs of rice, 75 lbs of pineapple ... 1 ghost pepper

they shouldn’t try to marry them. maybe the boars would leave them alone

Actually the boars that are bothering them are the ones who said, "I do."

Some of the best pork I have ever had. Quite lean. Delicious.

I hear that once they get over about 250 - 300 lbs, they are not as good.

We shoot em and make sure they are off the runway or taxi’s and leave em to bloat up where they become vulture food.

Lots of Muslims do un-Islamic things when they can get away with it.

I had feral pig with breakfast this morning. Will do the same tomorrow morning. They are good eats.

Exactly one time in my life I took on an 80 lb pig using only a 10" carving knife (I was using the knife, not the pig). I will NEVER do that again.

I did get the pig.

It did not get me.

It was a close run thing.

Wild Boar is served in some of the finest Restaurants here in TEXAS.

Be sure to ask the Rancher’s permission before you enter onto his land. Often, the Rancher will welcome Hog hunters.

Be respectful of the Rancher’s investment, as we have had years of drought here and so there is not much money left to mend fences.

Be prepared for a fight. They don't go quietly into that good night. I went back to 7.62x39 in the head. That takes all the fight out of them.

You can eat them, the young ones taste OK, some of the older ones stink when you cook them. My BIL takes a frying pan out when he shoots hogs. He will field dress then build a fire and slice off a piece and fry it right there in the field. If it stinks, he leaves it for the coyotes.

Our native military consultant loved the pork patty MRE. He’d dig through the box and take them all, pissed the Marines off big time.

It is pretty good. But I have found that even MREs will go bad after being stored for 15 years in Yuma, Arizona.

Does anyone know if you can cook and eat wild boar?

Absolutely! Past threads here regarding the hunting of them in Texas had many comments about how tasty they are.

yeah- I figured it was a dumb question, but hey! that’s what freepers are for!

thanks for all the replies

I thought wild board sounded quite tasty, but in Tucson Arizona they have a wild-pig-looking critter called a “havolina” (cant remember the correct spelling) and it looks like a tasty little oinker, but the locals say they don’t eat them because they are like rodents or something
