On the 3rd of October 1990 the former GDR officially joined the Federal Republic of Germany. Since then the country is reunited. The day commemorates that event and is therefore the national holiday in Germany.

And yet... with another side by side contest of liberty and free markets vs despotic communistic leftism, it continues to gain ground among the masses and leave them unconvinced that freedom is the only way.
That dance proved to be premature as we see a resurgent Soviet-like Putin dictatorship born out of the Soviet ashes and cinderblocks of the Berlin wall flexing it's muscle.
Of course, with Obama at the helm, it is a no-brainer for Putin.
So while the wall fell, so did the West's guard...
